Heat Strengthens Management Team in Preparation for Season Ahead
The Heat has strengthened its management team by promoting Mike Davies from general manager to operations director and appointing Paul Baker as general manager for the club.
In his new role, Mike Davies will focus exclusively on the business management and planning of the club. As general manager, Paul Baker will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the club, ensuring that the Heat Foundation is running efficiently, the Heat’s community programme is strong and that the BBL games run smoothly.
Alan McClafferty, managing director of the Heat commented, “Mike Davies has played a significant role in helping the Heat to develop over the last year. His promotion is very much deserved. Mike is a key member of the management team and will no doubt play an invaluable role in steering the club as we continue to grow.
“Paul Baker has been appointed as general manager largely due to his exceptional organisational skills coupled with his passion for basketball. When running the Heat CVL in Bracknell he made significant improvements in a short space of time. He is already well known and well respected at the Heat and I am looking forward to working closely with him in his new role.”
Paul Baker commented, “This is an exciting opportunity for me. I have worked for a London-based company for the last 16 years — most recently as a member of the management team, heading up the salesforce. I have been a fan of the Heat since the club was formed, am a qualified basketball referee and table official. My new role at the Heat enables me to combine my love of basketball with my strong business skills. I am looking forward to helping the Heat to become stronger, more efficient and more financially stable.”
