Revenge Sunday as Jets fly back into town

It is revenge Sunday as the Heat and Cheshire Jets meet for the second time in five days with BBL Championship points at stake this time.

The Heat will be keen to take revenge on the Jets for the loss in the BBL Trophy on Wednesday night. Jets still have a realistic chance of gaining a top four spot – and home court advantage in the play-offs – as are sixth in the table with a 12-10 record, while Heat’s immediate aim is to qualify for post-season play, currently laying ninth with ten wins from 25 games.

Heat player-coach Chad McKnight is expecting a tough game as his team face the Jets again: “I think the Jets have a good team, they have a lot of experience on their team and they have a good team chemistry.

“Chez Marks is one key player he leads in scoring for them almost every game and he has a nice jump shot. Another key player is James Hamilton he plays tough inside for them he has good moves and stays composed throughout the game.”

The teams have already met twice at Jets’ Northgate Arena, and although the home side won on each occasion, the games were contrasting.

December’s game saw Heat 65-56 ahead at the end of the third period, but the teams were level at 82 going into the final minute. Heat’s Kenny Langhorne then stole the ball and full went court for an unopposed layup to put Heat up 84-82. However Chez Marks nailed the decisive three ball to give the home side an 85-84 victory with 0.6 seconds left.

When Heat returned six weeks later, the game was much more one-sided with Jets running out comfortable 97-74 winners.
